On Saturday, March 31st, 2007, youth from Calgary will be holding a seminar at Marlborough Community Center. Similar event was held last year as well and over 200 people were in attendance from various religious backgrounds. In today’s age of growing misconceptions about Islam and its Holy Founder, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be on him), this was a welcome opportunity for creating a harmonious dialogue within the community. The seminar was held to celebrate the life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be on him).
Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, Canada and its local Calgary chapter sponsored the event itself.
Speakers highlighted the inherent fairness as a foundation of Islam and as a true character definition of its founder, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Citing many examples from the life of the Holy Prophet, speakers noted that the spread of Islam was more an effect of peaceful mannerisms rather than brute force as perceived by the Western Media. They also noted that contrary to popular western belief, Islam is truly a protector of women’s rights in particular and human rights in general.
The seminar was well attended and received by all those in attendance. Guests appreciated the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the second largest and fastest growing religion in the world. Many of the attendees agreed that such events are much needed in making ours a more tolerant and connected society. With the help of local communities and their members, Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association hopes to continue with the development of further opportunities, allowing a peaceful and meaningful dialogue in the community.
To fulfill this purpose, Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association Calgary will be holding another such seminar on March 31, 2007 at Marlborough Community Center from 2:30Pm to 5:00PM. Center is located at 6120 Medican Drive, Calgary NE, .
